A book in ideas on waste
Swedish waste collection has developed rapidly since the mid 1990s. Recycling rates have increased and hardly any household waste is now sent to landfills. The infrastructure required for the collection and treatment of waste is visible, smelly, and noisy and it requires a lot of space. But it is also indispensable.
Together with Boverket, The Swedish National Board of Housing, Building and Planning, we worked out instructions and ideas to inspire municipalities to make waste collection accessible and safe. The book is intended to give a historic overview of waste management while also providing an idea of the shape of things to come. We have also included a section of inspiring examples of waste collection. The book will be published in spring 2011.
