Environmental Impact Assessment for an in-depth lay-out plan for Skellefteå
Skellefteå has decided to have an in-depth lay-out plan of Skellefteå?s densely populated areas and the surrounding areas drawn up in order to determine how the community will appear in 2030.
The development is guided by the aim of attracting at least 7,000 new residents by the year 2030. The municipality has hired Tyréns to do an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) of the suggested lay-out plan with a focus on the changes in the citys development and infrastructure. The so called Round City is being developed through condensation of the city centre and through adding new areas within a radius of 5, preferably 3 km of the city centre. The availability of the citys key points and the possibility for walking and cycling increases which leads to a decrease in the emissions of greenhouse gases. Proposals for new directions along the E4 and Norrbotniabanan that the Swedish Road Administration is planning parallel to the lay-out plan are also included.
