The development project “New and Future Environmental Problems” deals with the risk of pharmaceutical traces spreading to watercourses.
Professor Per-Erik Olsson and his team of researchers at Örebro University have identified risks of human cells being affected or damaged by excessive levels of pharmaceutical traces. The project is a joint effort between Örebro University, Tyréns, Pelagia Miljökonsult and the municipal water and sewage companies in Karlskoga, Västerås and Örebro. Our task is to perform an introductory, overall risk assessment, something which has never been done on this scale before. A range of different skills are required to perform a risk assessment of this magnitude.
