Kemira Kemi AB is applying for an existing environmental permit for its sulphuric acid plant and the associated sulphur dioxide management in a trial in accordance with the Swedish Environment Code.
We performed a Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) for the management of sulphur dioxide and evaluated various risk-reducing measures. In the absence of Swedish guidelines we performed a Quantitative Risk Assessment with personal and social risk calculations based on the company’s rough risk assessment and the Dutch CPR guide. Extensive work assessing data from incidents where injuries were sustained, critical impact, frequencies, consequences, weather statistics and population data was required in order to compile the information.
