Botnia railroad long bridges

The bridge crossing river Ångermanälven is a 1000m long composite box girder bridge with 17 spans, maximum span 60m. Supports are founded on 40m long friction piles. The bridge is designed by architect Henrik Rundquist at &Rundquist.

The bridge crossing river Nätraån is also a 1000m long composite box girder bridge with 17 spans, max span 60m. The bridge supports are founded on rock. The bridge crossing lake Offersjön is an in-situ cast, post-tensioned bridge with 11 spans approximately 40m in length. Bridge supports are founded on a mixture of concrete and steel piles. For each span the steel box girders were lifted and placed on temporary support structures and fixed together with site welding. Temporary sheet piles were installed for the construction of the bridge foundation in water.
