Motala railway yard
The Motala railway yard is an important hub for the transportation of Swedish goods. The railway crosses the Motala Ström and Göta Kanal, two stretches of waters which have great cultural, environmental and economic significance.
Restoration of the rail yard will improve the flow of goods, and enable the improvement of commuter train services. Tyréns is responsible for the design of the approximately 5 kilometers of double track railway. The railway will remain in operation, which means that staged construction will take place in order to minimize effects on the railway traffic and minimize impact on the community and surrounding environment. The project includes several unique challenges such as the solving of signaling technology for the new mobile bridge over the Göta kanal. Tyrens is providing the final design services.
