Computer modelling of Laholms pipeline networks

A model of the pipeline network in Lhaolm has been constructed in connection with the work surrounding new methods of controlling and regulating the network. It is geographically accurate and it contains basically all of the municipalitys pipelines.

The model covers Veinge and Skottstorps supply area. A large number of measuremntss were taken of the network in order to calibrate the model. The purpose of this project is to draw up suggestions on how to change the methods for controlling and regulating the network so that the elevated reservoir in Laholm could be retired. In stead of being controlled by levels in the tower, the pumps will now be controlled through pressure gauges out in the network.

Another purpose has been to produce contingency plans in event of a breakdown or an accident as well as to gain better control of the greater pipeline network. The model will also provide a better understanding of how the network functions and to provide answers to questions such as how long has the water been in the pipeline network, is it possible to connect more users, are there any limited pipes, etc. Necessary changes have been suggested and the costs for the suggested changes have been calculated. Our partners in this project were the ABEL Group in Helsingborg.
