In order to guarantee the citys potential, Borås asked Tyréns to do a preliminary analysis based on five new locations for the wastewater plant that are being considered as alternatives to the present one.
The commission includes coming up with operational and technological solutions as well as the operational costs for all five of the alternative locations. The old treatment plant is located in a densely built area and the new permits might require a wider safety area than it currently has. Some of the stages of the preliminary study include the placement of the pipes as well as layout of the plant at each location.
Two of the locations arent really new; they just present a reconstruction of the old plant while it remains operational. If the decision was made today, it would mean a larger investment of about 500-750 million SEK, the largest investment in the history of Borås.
