Post-grouting against leakage
The telecommunication company Telia, is facing two challenges relating to its tunnels in Stockholm and Gothenburg among other locations. The company is being held responsible for sinking ground water levels partly because water is leaking into the tunnels and partly because water represents the largest maintenance expense for the tunnels.
A development project featuring post-grouting as a new way of managing these problems was performed in 2009-2010. Grouting was performed along a section of the tunnel where measurements and checks had been performed, before, during and after grouting. The results show that the method has been successful. Telia has received the information it needs to proceed and a well functioning collaboration between researchers, designers and implementers will be key to a successful result. All parties participated from start to finish – a good example of our way of working together.
