Tyréns Group are strengthening Group IT across Sweden, the UK and Central Europe into one organisation serving the whole business. We are now looking for a Head of Applications to lead and develop this area at Group level.

About the role

This is a senior leadership role within Group IT. You will be part of the Group IT Leadership Team and have overall responsibility for the Group's application landscape, including strategy, governance, lifecycle management, application delivery, software asset management and vendor management.

We are looking for a leader who can combine strategic direction with operational grip and work closely with business leaders, enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, procurement and other parts of Group IT to ensure that the application landscape is secure, well-governed, cost-effective and aligned with business needs.

Key responsibilities

  • Strategy and governance: Define and drive a Group-wide approach to application strategy, lifecycle management and governance, with appropriate alignment to enterprise architecture, cybersecurity and data governance.
  • Leadership: Lead and develop the teams working with application strategy, application delivery, software asset management and vendor management, and create clear priorities, roles and ways of working.
  • Application lifecycle landscape: Build a more coherent, well-governed and cost-effective application lifecycle landscape, balancing Group-wide standards with the needs of the business.
  • Delivery and operations: Oversee licensing, renewals, compliance, optimisation, packaging, testing, deployment, and ongoing performance of the application landscape.
  • Harmonisation: Continue the harmonisation of processes, tools and governance across Sweden, the UK and Central Europe, in close dialogue with regional stakeholders and business leaders.
  • Stakeholder management: Work closely with business leaders, procurement, architecture, cybersecurity and other parts of Group IT to prioritise needs and ensure applications support value creation in the business.
  • Leadership team contribution: Contribute actively as a member of the Group IT Leadership Team and help shape the wider direction of Group IT.

Your background

  • Experience: Senior experience from leading an applications function, application management team or a closely related IT service area.
  • Domain expertise: Proven experience of software asset management, licensing, vendor relationships and application delivery.
  • Change and alignment: Experience of harmonising processes, tools or governance across organisational boundaries and, ideally, across countries or business units.
  • Business understanding: Experience from engineering, technical consulting or another project-based knowledge business is an advantage.
  • Language: Comfortable operating in English in an international setting. Knowledge of Swedish is a requirement.

We are looking for a mature and steady leader who is comfortable operating in a senior role. You combine strategic thinking with operational grip, and you are able to create clarity in a complex environment.

  • Judgement and leadership: You are comfortable making decisions, taking ownership and handling difficult questions when needed. You can challenge constructively, escalate when necessary and keep the long-term interests of the business in mind.
  • Structure and pragmatism: You bring order without creating unnecessary bureaucracy, and you know how to turn broad intent into workable governance and clear delivery.
  • Technical credibility: You are able to discuss applications, architecture, lifecycle issues and delivery models with specialists and senior stakeholders alike. You do not need to be the deepest expert in the room, but you do need the credibility to lead the area with confidence.
  • Collaboration: You build trust, listen well and make good use of the expertise around you. You are comfortable working across organisational boundaries, cultures and time zones.
  • Inclusive leadership: You create an environment where people can contribute, develop and be heard, and you value different perspectives and ways of working.
